Suggestions for parking in Bolzano outskirts

Hello, My family and I are going to be staying just north of Venice in early May for a week. We want to do a single day drive back and forth through the dolomites to Bolzano. Our sons want to see the Ice Man and we want to see the scenic route. If we're too tired we may stop at a nearby town for a night. From things we've read on the internet we should park in the outskirts and take public transit in. Does anyone know of a parking lot/address we should aim for (all we've seen is Milan street which doesn't mean anything to us-not enough to google) ? Once we have an address we can research the public transit option/schedule. Thank you
Donna

We found a parking lot not far from the Ice Man museum. This really wasn't a large city that is hard to drive in and out of. By the way, the museum was really worth going to. My son and husband were fascinated by it. If you can, (not sure this is possible) try to get reservatsions ahead of time. We had a really long line, over an hour, because groups (like school kids) were let in ahead of us and they only allow so many people in the museum at a time. It was such a long day that we did stay at a hotel in the town. The hotel had parking. Have a great trip making lifetime memories with your sons!

Thank you both, we'll definitely follow your suggestions. We've tried to look up on this city but are finding there is a little less documentation then for other more touristy towns. Donna
