We will be in Palermo for 1 day during our cruise. Does anyone have suggestions on places to see in Palermo?
Palermo is such an interesting and vibrant place, and one day is difficult. The Cattedrale at Monreale for the amazing mosaics and pretty cloisters, the many very old churches, the Teatro with the beautiful ceiling, the markets, just walking in the old parts of town...all wonderful experiences. Take the bus to Mondello (half an hour away I think) if you want to go to the beach. Or take an organised day tour to Segesta for the stunning Doric temple, and to medieval Erice. Enjoy.
I would recommend just walking around Palermo. There are walking tours available if you don't want to go on your own.
I got a map at tourist info and wandered all over Palermo on my own.
I would recommend the Capo Market (open air market),
walking around the cathedral.
A great city I loved it.

Palazzo dei Normanni & the Cappella Palatina, Galleria Regionale della Sicilia, La Kalsa, and the Museo Archeologico Regionale are Palermo's top sights.
There are tours to Segesta and Erice.
Mondello would be a low priority.
Monreale would be a top priority, so maybe half your time in Palermo, and if Monreale appeals, a few hours there, depending on how much time you will have inport.
There is a hop-on/hop-off bus in Palermo, as well.
The bus is a good idea for an easy way to see palermo.
