Suggestions for last few days!

We’re kinda stuck in what to do the last few days of our trip. We’ll be arriving in Menaggio on August 11 from Vienna and will be staying 3 nights, departing on the 14th.

We’d love some input on what/where to go next......We’re entirely open to anything, we just need to be at Charles de Gaulle airport around 10-11am to make our 2pm flight home on the 16th.

This may not be the answer you were hoping for, but here are my two cents...

I always prefer to sleep in my departure city before flying home. Since you’ll be flying out of CDG, and you only have a couple of nights (one full day), I’d suggest spending them in Paris!

Enjoy your trip! 🌼

You really should be in Paris the night of the 15th. ( or within 100 miles at most)

Me, I would spend one more night in Menaggio and then head for Paris

Thanks Priscilla and Joe! We are spending the first 4 nights of our trip in Paris, then on to Munich/Vienna/Lake Como.

We could try to extend the stay in Lake Como on the night of the 14th or maybe head to Milan and spend the night of the 14th there and on the 15th take a train to Gard de Lyon (departing around 2:40pm and arriving around 10pm) or spend more of the day in Milan and fly to CDG at 9pm arriving around 10:30pm.

Taking the train we’d stay close to the train station inParis and head to CDG in the AM. If we flew, we’d stay in a hotel close to CDG..

Those are where our head is now.

Torino is a very nice city. You’d only have one night, though. But the train is straightforward from there.

It is probably too late, but if you can put all of your Paris nights a trip the end, it eliminates the awkward last-night-before-flying relocation.

Yes, everything else is booked, so we’re locked into this schedule.

I just booked the latest flight I could out of Milan the night before we leave, arriving at CDG at 23:00. So I will either extend our stay on Lake Como or a night in Milan to explore that city.

I realise you didn't ask, but in your circumstances I would choose a night in Milan, even though that means an extra hotel change. I know Milan is often seen as ho-hum on tourist websites and I agree that would be true compared to Rome, Venice or Naples, but we enjoyed our couple of days there. Milan does have some good sights such as the impressive cathedral (and roof walk), the castle and of course the Last Supper is worth seeing. True you could do some sights by staying at Lake Como and going via Milan centre on the morning of your flight, but if you stay in Milan the previous night you could also spend that evening around the navigli area and its aperitivo "scene" which we really enjoyed (don't know if it varies by night, we went on a Friday). Perhaps because I live in one of Spain's more ho-hum provinces, I rather liked Milan.

Thanks Nick, I think that’s exactly what we’ll do! We’ll start to search out a hotel for the night in Milan. I booked the airport hotel in CDG on the 15th. That will give us part of a the day and all evening on the 14th and all day on the 15th to explore Milan.
Not sure how long it takes to get to Milan Malpensa airport, but I’m thinking leaving by train/bus around 6:00-6:30pm for a 9:30 departure should give us lots of time.

So that wraps up our major travel/hotel bookings:

Arrive in Paris 4 nights
Train to Munich and 4 nights
Train to Vienna 2 nights
Overnight train to Milan (Lake Como) 3 nights
Milan 1 night
Fly to CDG 1 night
Fly home
