Will be arriving to Florence beginning of September and looking for recommendations for hotels that located near Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore), Piazza del Duomo, The Baptistery, Duomo, and Campanile form Florence’s most famous square, Ponte Vecchio and the Tombs of Michelangelo. TY
All of those locations are within a very small area, very close together
Florence is very walkable-anywhere between the train station, Duomo and Ponte Vecchio will be fine

A good place to start your search is Booking.com
Set the filters for location (Historical center/Centro Storico, budget, amenities like AC, bkft, elevator, # beds etc
Check location on the map
Read the reviews which can also br filtered and can only be left by those who have actually stayed at the property
You can book on booking.com or find the hotel website
I have stayed at Hotel Pendini twice. Love it. The rooms are bigger than many in Europe. The breakfast is good. It’s in the Historic Center & walking distance to everything you mentioned. When comparing prices, be sure to also check the hotel’s website which might be lower.
We have stayed twice at the Hotel Il Bargellino. We walk from the train station (SMN) to the hotel and back with our luggage and walked everywhere you have listed. In early September, I would definitely select a room with air con.
I would note that this is what I would call an old style Italian hotel where when you go out, you leave your room key at the desk. There are only 10 rooms or less and you are essentially in secured rooms (most with en-suite bathrooms-be sure and check before booking) within the owners home. The owners live on-site and are always available to assist.
The husband Pino is Italian and Carmel his wife, is originally from Boston. Obviously Carmel is fluent in English, and between Pino knowing some English and me knowing some Italian, I was able to communicate easily with both of them.
We book directly with the hotel, although I believe they have rooms available via booking.com If you have any questions, you can email them directly ([email protected]) but it may take a couple of days for them to respond.
2nd vote for Hotel Pendini. Great location, breakfast and the best air conditioning (we were there in June- 100 degrees for 3 days).
Thank you for the insight and recommendations for Florence, super excited to see the beautiful city and enjoy the culture.
I agree with salbeachbum: for location, amenities, attentive service, and Italian charm, Il Bargellino is a terrific choice.
Tip: See RS guidebooks for this and many other recommended hotels.
From RS guidebook I found HOTEL SILLA and have stayed there twice.
For something different try Casa per Ferie …Borgo Pinti - a convent stay ! My wife and I have stayed twice. Great location - taxi driver said it was the best location in town. Check it out at www.monasterystays.com. We booked thru the website first time, directly the second time which saves a bit but doesn’t have the .’hand holding’ of the website.
Decent price, English speaking nuns at the reception, large room. Breakfast included although it is rather sparse. No religious requirement to stay there.
Let me emphasize that I have not stayed at this hotel in almost 40 years, but it was a "superior tourist class" mainstay when I was there in the late 1980's. I just happened to see an announcement from a big Dutch (?) chain we used this year, Minor Hotels. The Porta Rossa had widely varying but mostly large rooms, some with two or three window exposures. And back then, no air conditioning. The bathrooms were big, but had the old Italian no-curtain design, with toilet paper holders that had swing-down rain covers. It has clearly been renovated.
If I were going to Florence now, I would look into it and consider it. Superb location, some street noise back when it had no air conditioning. I have no connection with any hotel business. We are no longer "budget travelers."

Hi Sandra, I've stayed at the Hotel Silla mentioned above and recommend it. As noted, Florence is compact. I preferred our hotel being on the "quieter" side of the river. Up to you, and you may have a reason for wanting to be right there, but I don't know that it's necessary to be immediately near the places you've listed.
We like Hotel Palazzo Benci. Good location for sights and not too far from train station, but not too close either. We also like Locanda Orchidea.
Another vote for Hotel Silla. It was the tour hotel when we took the VFR Tour in October 2023. As mentioned above, Florence is compact and imminently walkable, even from the "other side" of the river.
