Suggestions for hikes near Lucca.

We will be near Lucca at Villa Pedone in May for a week with a group of 16. Some of us hope to do some hiking in the afternoons. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Tina from Huntsville, AL.

The Via Francigena - the medieval pilgrim road from Rome to Canterbury - passes through Lucca and offers some nice hikes. The route is well signed and maps are available. Overview info here: http://www.turismo.intoscana.it/allthingstuscany/aroundtuscany/via-francigena-in-tuscany/ You can find many more websites offering maps and more detailed descriptions of the different sections. There's also a Via Francigena info office in Lucca now, info here http://www.turismo.intoscana.it/allthingstuscany/aroundtuscany/via-francigena-in-tuscany/.
