Suggestions for ferry from Amalfi Town to Sorrento

Which ferry has anyone used for this trip? Travelmar does not run a direct ferry. Has anyone used NLG, Seremar or Alilaura for this route or is there a ferry we can take from Amalfi Town on Travelmar and transfer.? We will have a carry on and backpack.

We used Alilauro in 2023 for our daytrip from Sorrento to Amalfi. If you haven't been to the region before and are new to the ferry systems, be prepared for some chaos and confusion. We had it both ways. The dock and ferry in Amalfi can be crowded. Take a look at day 3 of my Trip Report.

I'm assuming you're either going to the train station or a hotel once your in Sorrento? It's a steep climb up from the dock if you try and walk it. Look for the elevator that cost €1.10 at the time. It's not in an obvious location or well signed. You can take a cab, but it won't be cheap. If I remember correctly, our cab cost €24 for the 5 minute ride to our hotel from the train station in Sorrento.

Despite all the chaos and confusion the region has to offer, our 2 week stay in Sorrento was one of our best trips ever.

Here's more info on the lift Allan was talking about:

Someone over on TripAdvisor noted that it was closed for repairs when they were there last month; hopefully it's open again. If not, there's a public bus that runs from the pier area to the main part of the city above. From the Sorrento Tourism website:

"By bus: Cooperativa Tasso and EAV buses run between the center and the port. (Marina Piccola). Tickets cost €1 and can be purchased directly on board. Buses stop at Piazza Lauro, Piazza Sant'Antonino, and the train station. Some routes also go to Sant'Agnello, and the EAV C line goes to Piano di Sorrento."

I’d skip the Travelmar transfer idea and just take whichever direct sailing fits your timing best. For Amalfi to Sorrento, check ferryhopper first since it puts the direct options together in one place and makes it easier to compare NLG, Seremar, Alilauro Gruson, Coastlines and Positano Jet, https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/ferry-routes/direct/amalfi-sorrento .
We had similar luggage on this kind of route, just a carry on and backpack, and it was totally fine. I’d just get to the port a bit early because Amalfi can feel a little overwelming.

Thank you, it worked out fine from AT to Sorrento. Nice way to see the coast.

kcdav, did you find the lift, take a bus or walk to upper Sorrento?
Wondering for other travelers if the lift was fixed yet.

Hmmm, don't know if the lift was broken, we walked. The receptionist at the hotel didn't mention anything about it being broken when she was showing us some points of interest on their map. I will try to find out. We walked up yesterday from the ferry with a carry on each and a backpack and today from the ferry after coming back from Capri. Without luggage is easier.
