There are a variety of small shops in all of the five towns and you shouldn't have any trouble finding places of interest. The towns are small so it won't take much time to check them out. I don't usually do much shopping there, but it's difficult to be more specific without having some idea on what type of shops you might be interested in?
I can only offer restaurant suggestions for Monterosso, and I'll send you a PM with my usual "boilerplate" on the subject.

Again since the towns are small, Rick's guidebook is able to describe a good portion of the choices. Many people agree on the quality of food for lunch or dinner at Trattoria da Billy in Manarola (reserve for dinner; last train back to Vernazza should allow you plenty of time, but be sure to know the schedule).
