Suggestions for after Florence mid-October

We have been to Florence several times, but this time we will have a friend that has never been to Europe. We planned some day trips to Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Cortona and not sure where else. We will be in Florence for six days. Been to these before but it's been a while. Once we leave Florence, we are going to work our way back to Paris over 4-5 more days. We have never been to Como area,
so looking for suggestions. The Lakes Area? Cinque Terre? Not interested in heading south as we've done Rome, Amalfi, etc.

Thanks!

Orvieto is also a doable day trip from Florence (1h 45m).
There are no direct trains from Florence to the Cinque Terre (2h 30m) nor are there to Varenna on Lake Como (3h 30m). Bellagio is a 15-minute ferry from Varenna. From Milan’s Central station you can take a direct train to Paris (6h 45m) but there are no direct trains from the Cinque Terre.

Please clarify what your general idea is to "work our way back to Paris over 4-5 more days." Do you mean spend 4-5 days in Italy, then fly to Paris? Take trains through Switzerland, via Geneva, Beaune or similar?

We plan to train our way back to Paris but had some extra days we could use as stops along the way. Not necessarily in Italy.
