Suggestions for 5 days in Sardinia

A friend and I are planning on spending 5 days in Sardinia It in September. Our main priority is a beautiful beach, lots of Italian ambiance, a dive trip or two and an area to bike (bicycle) ride. This will be at the end of a trip that starts in Milan, heads to Lake Como, with a side trip to Cinque Terre. We are looking at a place to just chill and enjoy Sardinia.

Grazie in advance to any adivce!

Our staff has not spent much time in Sardinia. I'd consult the guidebook from Lonely Planet or perhaps a Michelin green guide.

I like the Gallura area, in the northernmost tip, Santa Teresa in particular is where I usually go. Do a Google Image search of Santa Teresa di Gallura and see if you like what you see.

But every corner of the island is amazingly beautiful. You can't go wrong with Sardinia no matter where you end up.

Here are all the beaches of the island. It's one better than the next.

PS: You need a rental car for Sardinia as public transportation to most smaller places, especially secluded beaches, is scant or non existent.

My husbands family live in Alghero so that is where we go. It's a great little city. Rent an apartment along the ocean, (or "The Sea" as the locals would say in English) but close to the old town. Every evening you can walk for miles on the promenade along the ocean with all of the locals. The night life is amazing. Rent a car and you will be able to drive to Stintino, (which locals say has the bests beaches in Sardinia) and south to Bosa. My two cents. Enjoy Sardinia!

Michelle, your Alghero relatives are correct when they use the English term "sea".
There is no ocean in Sardinia.
There is only the Mediterranean Sea (which is not an ocean).

Hi Dyelonosky,

I have never been to Sardinia yet. However I have found these guys recently on Facebook which show a unique experience in Sardinia. It is basically a week stay there touring the island on a Vespa. I thought I share it, might be helpful: https://www.facebook.com/vespasardinia
