We will be traveling up to Rome the day before our departure from Fiumicino airport. Are there any recommendations? Are we better staying in Rome proper and taking a taxi or train in the morning (11:30 a.m. flight) or finding something a little closer to the airport?

Excellent advice, as usual, Kent. Thanks for the 1/2 mile heads up; the maps can be a bit deceiving. I imagine a 0600hrs+/- departure from Oceania by taxi (arranged thru hotel) should be enough; as I recall, Fium departures (last thru about 4 yrs ago) are fairly civilized? Geoff
Thanks - what hotels would you recommend for one night in Rome? We will be in Rome for a week earlier in the month - this would just be a last afternoon and evening to enjoy.
Kent; have a 0935hrs departure from Fium.; staying near Termini @ Oceania Hotel; taxi or train to make the flight to Zurich?
I stayed at Residence Adler and we had aearly flight.The hotel arranged a taxi for us.The driver was right on time and the cost at 4AM was 45 e because it was early.I think that most hotels have a taxi service that they deal with on a regular basis which gfives the most reliable results.
