My husband and I (early 30's) are going to Cinque Terre most arriving mid-day May 11 and leaving May 13. Would it be easier to book a hotel or B&B in advance (since this is the beginning of high season)? or to try and book a room once we arrive. We are nervous we'll end up without a place to stay. We only allotted a day and half for our trip with plans to move on to Florence on May 13... however we could spend half the day of the 13th still hiking the CT area... any advice? Also, any hotel or B&B suggestions? Thanks-Heather
We were there that same time last year. I have to admit that I'm just not one of those people that would've felt comfortable waiting on reserving a room, as I prefer specific locations, quality, and rates (more mid-priced). I know when we were looking to book last March (for Monterosso),, a few places were booked or pretty expensive. We stayed at Hotel Colonnina from the RS book and really liked it (nice, clean, great location near the beach, bars and restaurants). They also offer a breakfast, but the down side is they only accept cash or travelers checks. I recommended the place to a co-worker and she really liked her stay there too. The hiking will vary -- you won't know what trails will be open until you arrive. Two of them were closed when we were there.
