Hi! We have 5 days available that we want to explore the beautiful lakes and sceneries between our drive from Milan to the Dolomites on July 11-16. Where do we base ourselves to maximize our days and what lakes do you suggest? We already have an itinerary and accommodations for the Dolomites part July 16-25. Thanks!

What is your destination in the Dolomites?
We went to the Dolomites from Lake Maggiore and from the Dolomites to Lake Como, for example. All are beautiful locations.

The northern route might be St Morriz and Innsbruk. I would choose the southern, Persciera del Garda [3] and Trento [a room at the wonderful but not expensive Grand Hotel, dinners with reservations well ahead at the Antica Trattoria Due Mori].
