I am studying abroad in Florence, Italy for 3 weeks. Once the 3 weeks is over I will be staying for an additional 7 days from 6/2-6/10. I would like to see Rome, possibly the Amalfi Coast, and Pisa. What are suggestions of places that I should actually fit into my time frame? I will have done a side trip to the Cinque Terre towns and a side trip for one day to Venice. Should I go back to Venice? Should I spend time in any of the towns of Tuscany? Any suggestions?
It depends. What have you enjoyed so far in Italy? Do you want more of that, or different experiences? What kinds of things do you think you might enjoy?
You can do Pisa as a day-trip from Florence via train. For the extra 7 days, you could train from Florence to the Amalfi Coast, spend 3 days there, then your last 4 days in Rome.
Pisa is a day trip. All there is to see is the tower and the church. I would suggest Lucca and/or Siena, if you haven't been there. Where are you flying out of? If you want to go a little further North, Verona and Bologna are wonderful towns, as well. If you like small towns, go to Lucca and Siena. Bologna is a big city (300K+)...but it is a university city and there should be many students.
Verona is wonderful, great Roman ampitheatre, Roman ruins, gardens...depends on what you like...nature or museums...large cities or small towns.
