We really loved Hostaria Vita for lunch there. Great food and very friendly service in a nice square.

North that needs a car

Do you mean nothing that needs a car? Assuming so, we ate 3 times at il Vicoletto. Two lunches and a dinner. It is not on the lake and does not have a view. But it does have a pleasant atmosphere, very good food and attentive service. If you do have a car or are interested in a long hike, you can go to Someraro, a little village above Stresa, and have a meal at al Rustico, a very local restaurant. We were the only non-Italians there.

I enjoy eating at the Ristorante Elvezia on Isola Bella. I move to their accompanying charming Boutique Elvezia Hotel for my last night when I stay in Stresa. I love that area!
