Stresa (Lake Maggiore) Question

So when we leave Cingue Terre we will be heading to Lake Maggiore and spending 3 nights, 2 full days in Stresa. Haven't been there before, but so far we have on the intineray to explore the town of Stresa, take the ferry to Isola Bella and Isola Madre. Is that two days worth of activities? If not, what other sights would you suggest? Thanks

Nice old town, Stresa...beautiful Lago di Maggiore. Less glamorous (and congested) than the more popular Cuomo. Take the cable car 5,000 feet to the top of Monte Mattarone...alpine strudel served up there! Also, a ferry to Isola Bella. For our Stresa itinerary last summer, copy and paste this link:

(scroll down to days nine and ten of our trip, for details about sites in Stresa, our hotel, and some nice restaurants; the hotel was perfectly situated near the main square)

For my travel article on the town of Stresa itself, copy and paste this link: http://moltogentileitalia.blogspot.com

One last thing: I think two nights in Stresa is plenty (with 1.5 days), but a third night, if you arrive later in the evening, would certainly be relaxing. You could also spend one more night in your prior destination, and hit Stresa early afternoon the next day.

We also be staying in Stresa for 2 nights in early July. You can also take a combination of boat and train travel. You can take the train from Stresa to Domodossola, then change trains to Locarno, which is at the top of the lake. You can explore Locarno (Switzerland) then take a ferry back down the lake to Stresa. It all comes as a package deal, but you have to pre-book it. The TI near the lake can help you with details.

Ron, as well as ferry rides hither and yon, there is a zoological garden worth a visit, especially for the gardens.
