Does anyone have restaurant recommendations for Stresa and/or Baveno? Pizza or pasta type.
maybe one with a nice view in either Stresa or Baveno for one special night
others, more casual.
also are reservations recommended for mid September?.

I stayed at Hotel Eden in Baveno back in September 2017, and enjoyed a couple of meals at their restaurant.
They have indoor seating as well as outdoor seating (across the street from the hotel) overlooking the beautiful lake.
I don’t really know if one needs reservations but presume it’s a good idea.
You may want to read recent reviews since it’s been a number of years now.
According to their website, the hotel is still owned by the same family.

My favorite experience is to take the short ferry to stay on Isola Bella my last evening in Stresa on the tiny island. Besides having a wonderful dinner in their restaurant, my favorite part of Boutique Hotel Elvezia is sitting out on the room balcony, watching the evening lights slowly fade into night over the lake as the last boats & ducks quietly float past and the church steeple of Isola Pescatori illuminates in the distance – a magical tranquil ending to the day.
Otherwise, I like to eat at the nice outdoor shore-side restaurant just north of the ferry dock at Stresa for both the view and a decent pizza or similar. It’s not Napoli pizza, but fine for an evening enjoying the view.
