streaty food tours

Hello,
What are your thoughts on going on one of the "Streaty Food Tours" in Venice? We will be there for 2 full days. Is it something
you recommend, or, is exploring the different street vendors/markets just the same??
(The price for each would be 80 E. ..... worth it?)
Thanks!

80€ each? Yikes, skip it and do it by yourselves keeping in mind that Venice is not known for it’s food anyway.

That price is outrageous!
If you want to do a food tour in Venice, look for cicchetti tours.
Those are small bites served in bars, similar to tapas and quite delicious.

Years ago we did a ‘cicchetti’ walk in the San Polo and Santa Croce neighbourhoods, stopping at various ‘bacaro’ (small local bars) to sip small glasses of wine and cheap but delicious, tapas-like snacks.

If I were you, I’d just wander on my own, looking for those little bars between 6-8pm - keeping an eye out for those with a tight crowd of people just standing with glasses in hand and just munching away. Don’t bother asking what you’re eating before you taste - just happily munch away, then ask.

We did the Streaty Food Tour in Venice and totally enjoyed it. I think whether it is worth it just depends on what you are looking for. We have lots of nice dinners out when we travel, but sometimes it is just fun to turn yourself over to a local that has chosen some of their favorite spots. We did the evening tour and met some really fun travelers, visited neighborhoods we hadn't seen, and ate foods and drank wine that we otherwise probably wouldn't have tried.
