Storing luggage near the Vatican

We are traveling from Cinque terre to Rome in early June, 2016. We have reservations for the "under the Vatican" tour at 3 pm. It would be convenient if we could take the train straight to the Vatican, store our luggage, take the tour, then go to our hotel. Does anyone know of a way or place to store your luggage near/around the Vatican?

I don't recall luggage storage at Stazione San Pietro, you might have to use Roma Termini but you need to check opening/closing times to be sure it will be staffed when you want to retrieve your luggage. The metro stop (Ottaviano) near the Vatican Museums might have something but I wouldn't be too optimistic about it.

I hope someone else can be more helpful.

To make that tour the best and probably only option is to take the Frecciabianca train departing from La Spezia at 08:18 which stops at Roma San Pietro station at 11:48 and then proceeds to Termini (arr. 12:03). No changes.
Three hours might be enough for you to take your luggage to the hotel, leave them with them if the room is not ready, then take a taxi or metro train to the Vatican.
Luggage depot is available at the Termini station (not San Pietro). However CityinLoop operates a baggage depot near the Vatican (between San Pietro station and St. Peter). Also available is the Bon-Bags service. It's a company that will pick your luggage where you want and will rede liver it where you want when you want. In that case you could request they meet you at the station and deliver your bags at your hotel later.
Google both CityinLoop or Bon-Bags to see their respective websites and decide.
