We are planning to take the train from Rome to the Almalfi Coastal town of Positano via Naples. However, due to a shortage of time we would like to stop and visit Pompeii on the way from Naples to our hotel in Positano a therefore we will have all of our luggage with us when we arrive at Pompeii. Is there a place in Pompeii where we can store our luggage while we tour the ruins? It not, how about in Naples?

I have read on this forum that there is luggage storage in Pompeii, I know there is in Napoli Centrale, I use it fairly often. In Napoli, baggage check is at the very end of the station near the head of track #1. Near the police office (don't ask).

Yes, Rick's Italy book describes bag storage both at the Pompeii Scavi train station (3 euros per bag, by the WC) and at the main entrance to the Pompeii site (free, by the turnstiles), which is a very short walk.

We just did this a couple weeks ago - we wanted to hit up Pompeii on our way from Naples to Positano so we used the FREE luggage check right after the ticket booth at the Pompeii site.
