Storing luggage in Venice for a few hours as we walk around

Hi! We only will be in Venice from about 11a for 5 or so hours as we are stopping for a quick visit before we land in Florence to drop off my daughter for college. My husband and I have been but I wanted to have my son see it. My daughter plans on visiting again. We will have 4 suitcases with us. Is there a good place to store our luggage?

Thank you in advance.

before we land in Florence

are you flying to Florence from VCE?
You'd be better off taking the train. City center to city center.
Otherwise you have 2 transits to/from the airport- that takes time

I beleive there is luggage storage at the train station

Also factor in the time it takes to check your bags in and out. Might eat up 30-40 minutes each depending on the crowds. Personally, I think you are trying to cram too much in 5 hours.

We are actually having a private car drop us off from Slovenia. I thought I would have him drop us off at the train station so we could store our luggage there. If that is feasible?

So you are taking train to Florence?
You’ll have to be dropped at Piazalle Roma I believe
Cars can’t get to main station Venezia Santa Lucia

Bummer, so the car can only take us to Piazzale Roma. Well we could take a train from Trieste to Venice instead. Then leave our luggage at Venezia Santa Lucia. But now wondering if it's worth it at this point.

there is a pedestrian bridge between Ple. Roma and near to the station - they are nearly across the Grand Canal from each other, and it is one stop on a vaporetto between the two. Jump on (with a ticket or pass which you'll need anyway) after you get of the road transport in Ple. Roma and hop off a couple of minutes later at Ferrovia (Train Station), roll the luggage up the ramp and look for the left luggage.

Both are easy solutions.

Exactly what Nigel said. Piazzale Roma and the train station are really close to each other; the bridge between the two can be awkward with luggage so the vaporetto makes sense, but otherwise it would be a very quick walk!

we could take a train from Trieste to Venice instead.

That seems simplest and most direct to me.

Is your issue that you don't want to take luggage between the bus station and the train station? There is luggage storage available at both places, but you would still need to walk between the two to get your train on to your next destination.
