Husband and I will be traveling from Venice to Florence and would like to stop in Ferrar to visit the Castello Estense. Is there anywhere to store our bags? Thanks

Small train stations in Italy do not have left luggage facilities and this includes Ferrara. Lockers are used at no train stations for obvious reasons. You will need to see if there are local hotels or restaurants that offer such services.
