We will arrive in Rome from the U.S. and head to Termini Station. Is there a SAFE place to store our luggage at the station? We would like to head to northern Italy for a week of traveling with only a backpack? Thank you for your help/any suggestions. Cindy

Yes, you can store your luggage downstairs in the Left Luggage Room; see this article for info, location, and pricing. Also, there is some additional info on the Roma Termini station in this post. Good Luck!

RoninRome.com explains the Rome Terminal in detail, including storing luggage. The storage is to your left when you get off the Leonardo Express train on track #24, and is in the basement. It's not cheap, however. Have you considered following Rick Steve's suggested clothing list, and not checking anything? He can travel indefinitely out of a 22" backpack suitcase without wheels. Hotels often have laundries.

Will you be staying at a hotel in Rome upon your return? If so, they will probably store it in their luggage room for you. Check with them ahead of time just to be sure.
