Are there lockers at the train station in Rome? If not, what alternatives are there to dragging our bags (albeit lightly packed) with us, along with our neon sign that reads, TOURIST?
No lockers anywhere due to terrorism concerns. There are manned "Left Luggage" counters ("Deposito Bagagli" or similar) where you hand over your bags and they keep an eye on them for a fee, usually hourly. Be sure to note the hours that they are open.
Thanks so much. Are these deposito bagagli counters in the train station? Thanks again.
In Roma Termini station, the left luggage desk is in the lower level. See also Trenitalia, which is not cooperating with my web browser, today, FYI .
The lower level and to your far left (south end) as you face the front of the station. It is heavily used so sometimes the line to check and pick up can be long. If you are just passing though Rome that is your only choice. However, if staying in Rome, just leave them with your hotel even if too early to check in.
