Stores closed December - January??

I read that many stores close from Dec 23-January 6th?? Is this true? I am leaving on December 20-January 4th. Does this mean NO shopping for me??

Interesting -- have never heard or read that myself. Stores will be closed Christmas Day and the day after in England. Also New Years Day but in the some areas the run up to Jan 6th is the big shopping time and often will be open very late in the evening. You will be able to shop till you drop.
