Arriving via train from Rome early in the morning and will depart 2 days later in the evening. I need to store luggage before I check in upon arrival and after I check out of my lodging. (Staying in private apartment and they can not accommodate luggage storage)

Check online for storage at the train station, or there are apps that can provide services that will store your luggage near your apartment.

All of the above are good options. But just to toss in one more possibilty, I've just gone into nearby hotels several times and asked to have luggage stored for however many hours I needed. I've never been refused. They just come up with a price. 5 or 10 euro or whatever. This has been pretty convenient for occasions when I just needed to store luggage for part of a day. But if you're near Termini station, I've used their services several times for storing luggage and it works great.
