Store luggage in Florence on a day trip

I'm taking the train from Rome to Bologna next week. I'd like to split the train ride up: Travel from Rome to Florence and tour the Florence for a few hours, then take another train from Florence into Bologna. My question is, if I do this, is there anyplace in Florence I can store my luggage while I'm walking around the city?

Scott,

Here is another option: http://www.depositobagaglifirenze.eu/. I haven't used this one so I really can't comment on it either way...

From past experience, when using the left-luggage at the train station, you should allow plenty of time to pick up your luggage before your departing train to Bologna. The office can be quite busy with a long queue of people picking up and dropping off.

I've used the station luggage drop and was satisfied + my things were safe but I do agree that you probably want to leave yourself a time window to pick things up since lines are pretty common.

Thanks. It never occurred to me there might be a line. Good to know.
