I'm looking for perspective as to how realistic it is to stop at Ercolano on the way from Sorrento to Naples, with 2 carry-on sized bags and one larger suitcase. I've heard there's limited luggage storage available at the Ercolano site and my husband carries a lot of medical supplies, so we have more luggage that is ideal for hopping on and off the train. The alternative is to go all the way to Naples, check into a hotel then take the train back to Ercolano. Anyone have experience with Ercolano and storage?

Next door to the Herculaneum (“Ercolano Scavi”) train station is a company that stores luggage of all sizes for €5 per bag. It’s called “Radical Storage” and has many other locations in Italy as well.
