What is a good town to stop possibly for lunch between Siena (2 nights) and Orvieto (also 2 nights). We will have a car and will have spent 4 nights in Florence. We have not spent any time in any other small towns in the vicinity.
It's a lovely opportunity for a drive! Go south from Siena to Montalcino, and after stopping there (coffee time?).Then head east to Pienza and on to Montepluciano. Either has many options for dining and each is worth a couple of hours. The drive from Montalcino to Montepulciano is one of the loveliest I have taken! After Montepulciano, head over to Chiusi and join the A-1 for your trip into Orvieto. Total drive time just over 2.5 hours according to Google Maps.
Go to a Tuscany hill town like Montepulciano or Montecino. Buy some of the famous Brunello wine. Or, just go slow and have a nice drive through Tuscany! Make sure you make time for the driving. It takes time to get to the towns, the roads wind around. At first I only looked at the map, when I put it into the gps, I was very surprised! The days in June will be long. Have a good trip!
Thank you. That looks terrific
