Hi. We would like to break up the drive from Nice to Venice. Any suggestions on where to stay for a couple of nights? We were originally considering Genoa but have not heard good things about it

I have not been, so this is very unsubstantiated, but Piacenza or Cremona look like nice half-way points. That area's on my radar for the next time I'm driving around collecting souvenir plates at Buon Ricordo restaurants.
