looking for a suggestion for a two night stay in Umbria area. Have three nights booked at Hotel Il Cantico della Natura , but could not accomodate the other two nights we needed. As we are foodies , love our wine , want a real Italy feel , comfortable and still priced right..
any suggestions? Cheers, thanks so much .Marie
Marie, Have you considered staying in Orvieto, or perhaps just outside the city? It's a beautiful Umbrian hill town with an interesting history. It's difficult to say whether the accommodations there will be "priced right" as you didn't mention which price range you prefer. Happy travels!
I can heartily recommend Orvieto as Ken does, and will add that B&B Ripa Medici is a delightful place to stay. http://www.ripamedici.it/IndexEng.html. Right on the edge of town, great views, quiet, 10 minute walk to il Duomo.
Check out Locanda Rosati, a splendid spot, outside Orvieto.
Here's another vote for Orvieto. We stayed there this past May for 2 nights and loved it. Here are some photos that I took while there, so you can see a little of what I mean: Orvieto May 2011 We stayed at B&B Garibaldi and recommend it. See the reviews at Tripadvisor.com. Garibaldi David, the owner, will pick you up at the train station and drive you up into Orvieto. Or, if you have a rental car, he provides parking.
