Staying in the Dorsoduro area of Venic

I'm attending a week-long seminar in Venice in July. Any suggestions for an inexpensive place, with A/C and internet service? I'll have to be writing many papers... :( Just paying for my ticket has been a shock and a grad student never has much money. Thanks for your help!

Have you tried asking the people who are hosting the seminar? They might have some special arrangements or know of a place that fits the bill. Another option, if you really need to save money, is to consider staying on the Lido. It's a twenty minute ferry ride from the Lido to the Dorsoduro/Zattere with boats about every 10 minutes (#52 or #62) and the rates are MUCH lower there. You can buy a vaporetto pass for the week for 50E. We're going to be staying at the Hotel Helvetia, and got a rate of 54E a night for 3 nights in May (pre-paid, non-refundable to get the best rates). It will be our third time in Venice and we wanted to experience it a little differently AND we wanted to save some coin. It sounds like it's a little funky - 70s decor, for example. But the location is great - a one minute walk to the ferry landing. http://www.hotelhelvetia.com/accommodation/ Good luck.
