Staying in Sorrento for 3 days 2 nights. I want to see Pompei and Mt. Vesuvius. I figure that is one whole other day. What else would be a great spot to visit see or do? Is Capri a realistic from there? Any suggestions welcome.

Capri would be a great daytrip from Sorrento. I actually day tripped down from Rome and we spent the majority of the day on Capri, and also spent a couple hours in Sorrento too. Capri and Sorrento are maybe a 20 min ferry ride from one another.

Capri is a wonderful daytrip from Sorrento. We spent 4 nights in Sorrento in July 2006 and spent one day visiting Pompeii, another day on Capri and on our last full day we took the bus to Positano and the boat back to Sorrento. We were in Sorrento when Italy won the World Cup and the energy was amazing!! An unforgettable experience for our entire family!

Another good day trip is...take the fast ferry to Amalfi. From there, take a short walk to Atrani, you can take the 1,000 stairs to Ravello. It's so pretty in Ravello, the hike/walk is fun.
Amalfi is pretty small, there is a lovely church to see, you can explore there for a bit, then do the walk up the hill.
Remember, make sure you catch the Fast Ferry, or it will take hours to get there!
