Alma Domus is actually very nice. Ask for a room with a balcony - beautiful view of the medieval city.
I've stayed various places in Siena but Hotel Alma Domus is my favorite. It's super clean and quiet with a nice breakfast, and within easy walking distance of all the sights. Prices are quite reasonable too. Request a room facing the Duomo. Many of those rooms come with a small balcony overlooking a quiet ravine.

RS recommended, lovely terrace with fabulous views
I used the suggestions in the RS guide. I liked several of the options
We stayed in http://www.anticaresidenzacicogna.it/en/index.html in September 2018 for four nights and loved it. Easy walk to everything and a number of great restaurants close by.
I was there in May of this year & stayed in Palazzo Ravizza. It was a short walk to the main sites & in a very quiet area. One thing I really liked was how large the shower was. Not a necessity but it was very nice to have.
I agree with Hotel Alma Domus. Great views of the roof tops of the city center and the Cathedral.
Thanks for all your help!!!
We've stayed in Palazzo Ravizza on two occasions and enjoyed both stays. Steps from center city, great views from the courtyard out back. Enjoy
