Hi. We are planning to visit Siena in December and trying to decide if we should plan on spending the nite there? Will be in Vicenza for five days and would like to see Siena during that time period. We will be driving. Thanks.

There was a discussion HERE a few days ago that mentioned some good reasons NOT to stay in downtown Siena if you have a car, plus some good suggestions on places to say with your car just outside the old city walls. My advice is to stay just outside the walls and take a taxi to downtown (or walk downtown then take a taxi back to the hotel when you're done).
