Hi all! We’re staying in Praiano during our time on the Amalfi Coast and were wondering if anyone else has some tips from staying there and getting around to the other towns. We know there’s a bus line we can take during the day, but any suggestions on the cheapest way to get around at night? For example, if we have dinner reservations at night in Positano, what’s the best way to get back to Praiano? Thank you!
Month of year? This entire area has limited transportation options, especially at night. Taxi or car service. Pricey. Does your hotel have a land-services partner they recommend?
We'll be there May 19-23 of this year. We are staying at an Airbnb and the host said it would be 70 euro one way for a private car so we'd like to avoid booking through them!
That is probably a bargain compared to a taxi. Praiano is great for getting away from it all, but if you want to do multiple day trips, it is better to stay elsewhere, sorry. Best to just bite the bullet and pay the transfers at this point.
Maybe take the SITA bus (or a late day ferry if possible, or a boat taxi) TO dinner, pay a driver to get back.
Just FYI: the ferries don't service Praiano. Your options are taxi or hired driver (expensive) or SITA bus (cheapest). As pretty as Praiano is reported to be, lack of inexpensive public transport aside from bus makes it sort of a difficult place to day-trip from.
One exception: there appears to be a tourist boat (not a ferry) that makes one run a day to Capri from/to Praiano.

According to the schedule the bus between Positano and Praiano runs until a little bit after 10pm. https://www.positano.com/en/bus-schedule. Having said that, transportation in the region is slow, frustrating, chaotic and unreliable no matter what method you choose. But the bus will be the only one that isn't pricey. The only taxi we took on our trip was from the Sorrento train station to our hotel that was a 5 minute drive away and the cost was 24 Euros.
