I will be driving throughout Sicily and ending up in Palermo. Any advice on where to stay with a car? I have found some accommodations in the historic area of Palermo that say they have parking or parking is nearby; however I understand that driving and traffic can be a challenge in the city. I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations on places with easily accessible parking either in Palermo or in a nearby area with easy bus or taxi ride into central Palermo (maybe Monreale?) Any suggestions would be appreciated!

A car isn’t needed in Palermo. Drop it off when you arrive.

If you have a car in Palermo, it will stay parked at a garage the whole time. Much of the city center is either forbidden to non residents’ cars, or too chaotic to try to drive in it. Return the car as soon as you arrive. If you need to head to the airport after your stay, take either a taxi or public transportation (bus or train) to the airport.
