I will be flying out of Milan and was wondering if there are any places near the airport to stay? Or do I have to stay near the train station? My flight is early AM.

Assuming you mean Malpensa, there are several places to stay close by. For purely sleeping and getting a shuttle to the airport in the morning, I can recommend two places. The Hotel Cervo, a three star that is clean and surprisingly quiet. The other is the Hotel First. It's an elegant four star. Both are in a neighborhood literally between the two Malpensa terminals. There's nothing to do outside of the hotels, so once you're there, you're stuck. But both have ealry shuttles to and from the airport so you can take the train or bus to Malpensa in the evening and have them pick you up.
Both have websites you can find on Google. Just search on the names with "Malpensa"
