Staying in Massa Lubrense

Hi All,

I'm sorry to keep asking these same type of questions. We are going to Italy in June and are flying to Rome but are staying Massa Lubrense. I've asked about renting cars and everyone was in agreement not to rent one. But, I have another question what is the best and easiest and fastest way to get from Rome to Massa Lubrense and of course cost effective way? The other party we are going with wants to rents cars but I'm not sure I want to do that. We are planning to go to Rome one full day to tour also. I'm so confused I don't know what do do.

Thanks,

Judee Cirillo

See https://www.sitasudtrasporti.it/ for bus schedules from Sorrento to Massa Lubrense, or this Spring version in PDF.

For trains between Rome and Naples, see www.trenitalia.it. The local Circumvesuviana train between Naples and Sorrento runs twice per hour and you just buy tickets on the spot; or there's a less-frequent, more tourist-oriented Campania Express Train. The Naples chapter of Rick's Italy guidebook has a good summary of the details.

Good answer. You will be sorry if you take a car to this area. Does your room include a shuttle (for during your stay as well) to Sorrento, which is a real transit center? That’s why rooms cost more in Sorrento. This is peak time, so I hope you have a room confirmed.

Did you write that you are daytripping to Rome from M.L.? That would be most unusual among posters here.

We are staying at an Airbnb is Massa Lubrense. We were planning on going to Rome for the day.

The problem with the Rome daytrip is that it's a three-seat public transit trip each way. That introduces a lot of waiting, and you may be too late for an attractive priced (non-changeable, non-refundable) Frecciarossa "fast train" from Naples to Rome. (You may have to sleep your last night in Rome anyway. What time is your flight home!)
