Staying in Lucca

Rent bikes and tour the tops of the city walls. One great restaurant I liked is Trattoria da Leo. Stop by during the day and reserve for dinner.

I have the same recommendations. Riding bikes around the wall was great fun. We had dinner at Trattoria da Leo and it was very good. We didn't make reservations, but we were there in mid-September. We were only there for one night so we didn't have time to do any day trips. Where else are you going? Pisa would be an easy day trip, or there are quaint Northern Tuscany towns you might want to check out.

I found Lucca a nice relaxing town w/o much to do. The walls are a good walk or bike ride however does not compare to the walls of Dubrovnik. Lucca does have a nice Rick Steves recomended laundry place with a Martini bar across the street.
