you are really late for accomodations in varenna on lake como, especially for 7 people. have no idea what your budget is and if all staying together. may need 2 hotel rooms. italy is one of the top countries to visit and it will be crowded everywhere with many booking a year ago. you are in high high season with lake como being a top place to be. prices have skyrocketed for all the big cities for quite awhile.
what is your transportation, train, bus, car (all drivers will need to obtain an IDP aaa.com/IDP before deporting USA. big $$$ if you don't have. read all rules, laws, ZTL"s etc about driving.
where ever you book, make sure there is parking (free or a fee) and big enough car to seat all and luggage. check in is 3-4pm check-out 10-11am

look at other cities/towns on the lake that will accomodate your gang. no recommendations for 7 people, whatever you find book it. otherwise go look at another lake (lake maggiore, lake iseo, lake garda. wishing you good luck and happy hunting
