Staying in Convents in Rome

I have read that you can stay in some Convents in Rome, I would like to do this with a family of 5. Does anyone have any advice on doing this? What convent is good, was it a good experience, etc? Thank you! Lindsay

we've stayed in convents all through Italy... although not in Rome as we've lived there. THIS LINK offers you a few more convent options - with pictures and a map - in the city of Rome. Good Luck!

Go to www.santasusanna.org, click on "coming to Rome" for a list of convents or go to monestarystays.com. I prefer Santa Susanna, and normally recommend and stay at Santa Maria alle Fornachi near the Vatican. My 2nd choice is Casa La salle(e-mail [email protected]. It's a little far out for me, however it is a short walk to the Metro. Both a pretty basic(no phone, tv, but air) however no curfew.

The book "Bed and Blessings in Italy" has good descriptions of convents and monasteries in Rome.
