Planning a trip for 4 adults in Italy. Have stayed in Vernazza and hiked to Monterosso before and thought it would be fun to stay there. Lots of places already booked. Suggestions?
When are you going? Lots of people here stay in Monterosso and I am sure they will chime in with their favorites!
Monterosso would be my choice. More accommodations. If nothing is available try Bonassola or Framura (or Levanto, which is a bit bigger). Framura looks like the 5terre villages
We liked La Colonnina!
Thank you Roberto! One of my most amazing memories is of a run I took from the beach up around the hilly road that was about 10K route up and around the town of Monterosso. I started off with a view of the trail we had hiked to the town with the ocean as a back drop. Further up were moss laden vines amongst giant trees. I was running thru a mist which was so magical and unique. Unfortunatly didn't bring a camera! Love the statue down on the beach!
kerry,
When are you planning to travel to the Cinque Terre, and what hotels have you tried so far? Also, what kind of accommodations are you looking for (ie: hotel, apartment, etc.), and what price range?
We've stayed at the Hotel Villa Steno and were very pleased. The location is on a hill above the town which means some really good views. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
Room 6 at the Hotel Villa Steno is a great room. It has a very large patio with table and chairs and recliners under an olive tree. The view is spectacular.
We stayed at La Colonnina a few years ago and had a nice stay. Our favorite meal was at Ristorante la Lampara Ciak, where I had grilled octopus for the first time.
We stayed at Hotel Marghurita in Monterosso and our room had a fabulous balcony that overlooked the main street. They had a great breakfast. Dinner at Ciak was the highlight!
kerry seems to have disappeared......
Kerry,
We enjoyed our stay at 'Hotel Baia' some years back. It's conveniently located on the waterfront a few yards from the train station: http://www.baiahotel.it/
Enjoy!
Loved our stay at Hotel Pasquale in 2013. We previously stayed at Hotel Margarita & loved it as well but nothing compared to the ocean views from our room at Hotel Pasquale. The hosts were wonderful as well and made us feel at home. The included breakfast was great and the room was comfortable and immaculately clean.
We stayed at Hotel LaSpiaggia in 2013. It's in the "new" part of town and an easy walk from the train station. If you ask in advance as we did, you can get a room with a balcony and a water view. Excellent breakfast and very friendly hosts as well. Excellent RS recommended restaurants close by.
Ditto to LaSpiaggia. Great location an easy walk from the train station.
Hotel Villa Steno is amazing! I loved it and would not stay anywhere else in Monterosso! The views from the hotel are amazing and the staff could not be nicer. It was also the cheapest hotel that I stayed in during my stay in Italy. I highly recommend it!
