We have rooms booked at Francamaria in Vernazza in 3 weeks. A little concerned about no A/C and noise. Wondering if anyone has stayed here. Also, is it worth it to stay in CT vs. the outskirts (nicer hotels, quiet)?
Vernazza is perfect. We stayed at a little apartment off the main drag so, not sure about Francamaria. However, it is a very small village and I don't think noise will be a problem except during the day when more tourists arrive for just the day. Be sure to go to Il Pirata. It's a cafe run by two brothers and will start your day with a good laugh, good food and advice. They speak many languages. Also, Il Capitano was wonderful for dinner. It's on the edge of seaside dock and you will get to see the locals on their evening strolls with extended family...a real treat.
I've stayed in July without A/C and it wasn't an issue. I'm currently in Neuss,Germany, weather is cool to chilly in evenings. If you are in good health and condition you'll love Vernazza, my favorite. If the Sea is calm, take a boat ride to other villages. Pick Grapes?
