We are traveling with Teens and would like to stay in a castle while in Italy, Preferably in the Tuscany or Umbria area, however we are flexible.
We just want a really cool experience. Any recommendations?
When we visited Orvieto in Umbria a year ago March on a daytrip from Rome, from the overlook to the valley a few miles away we could see what looked like a castle nestled among trees and rolling hills.
After we got home we found out that La Badia di Orvieto was a former monastery that has turned into a B&B. The pictures don't do it justice--it's absolutely gorgeous.
We stayed at La Badia years ago on our honeymoon. It was stunning, the food was wonderful and the nice thing was that it was still close to Orvieto if we wanted to explore.
We stayed here a several years ago.
Close to Montereggioni, San Gimignano and Siena. All of Chianti is close by.
