Stay overnight on Levanzo Island? In mid October.

I'm taken with the photos of Levanzo and wonder if it is worth an overnight? Or should we just stay in Trapani... or Erice...or Grotta Mangiapane? We will have a car (which obviously wouldn't come with us to Levanzo).
We might go for a quick swim if the weather is hot, however won't spend much beach time. The cave paintings on Levanzo look interesting. E-biking on Favignana is also an appealing change of pace. Spoiled for choice!
We are in Sicily for 2 weeks however prefer to putter around and see less rather than drive a lot to see more. Particularly enjoy getting outside cities and large towns. Thanks for any and all input!

I day tripped to the Egadi Islands (not Levanzo) in 2015 and regretted the use of a day for that purpose; the payoff wasn't sufficient to justify the travel time as far as I was concerned. I had 17-18 days in Sicily but no car, and that wasn't enough time to do everything I wanted to do. But I am not a fan of beaches or biking, so YMMV, absolutely.

Don't skip Erice.

acraven, thanks so much for taking the time to reply. It is so helpful to explain one's individual situation and hear an experienced traveler's perspective. Thinking we'll stay overnight in Erice instead if I can find lodging. Thanks again.

Look at Scopello as an alternate to Erice for overnight. It’s a lovely little place, well located for day trips. We spent a couple of nights there at a great little b&b in the town — most of the lodging seemed to be outside the town & required a car (which you will have but we didn’t).

We did spend a night in Favignana and enjoyed it (and the bikes). Absolutely gorgeous scenery. Lovely dinner at night on an almost deserted piazza.

If you’re interested I’ll look up details for you. We sound like kindred spirits — we too love the little places.

It would be wonderful to hear your lodging recommendation for Scopello. I’ve actually been trying to find something quiet, basic with a bit of charm within walking distance of restaurants if possible. Thanks so much for weighing in, I think Scopello sounds very appealing!
