Stay on Murano

Arriving Venice airport 3 days before start of Village Italy tour. We have previously spent time in Venice. I was thinking of staying at the Hyatt on Murano for 2 nights before heading to Padua. Hotel claims to have transportation direct from airport to hotel. Hotel info states water taxi stops at pier in front of hotel also.
Does anyone have experience this hotel or staying on Murano? Do you wish you had stayed in City Center?

I'm a big fan of art glass and have been out to Murano four times since 2022. I've walked along the waterfront past the area where the hotel is located at least twice, but I've never been in the hotel. I haven't been any farther north on Murano than that; I've mostly covered the area south to the Colonna vaporetto stop. For me, Murano isn't a particularly attractive environment, aesthetically. I wouldn't recommend staying there unless you're deeply into glass and want to spend most of your time in Venice looking at it.

Since you've been to Venice before, I assume you are aware of how expensive water taxis are. Perhaps you're OK with commuting to Venice proper by water taxi, but I would not be. I'd be taking a vaporetto; even they are expensive at 9.50 euros per ticket. In other words, to the cost of the hotel, you'll need to add $40 per day for the two of you to get to Venice and back to the hotel even if you take the vaporetto.

Murano (unlike Burano) isn't terribly far from central Venice, but if you want to go farther than Fondamente Nove, you'll have a considerably longer ride.

I'd feel constrained by not being able just to walk to wherever I wanted to go. YMMV.

I guess my main question would be why you wanted to be so far from Venice proper, unless you were going to limit yourself to just the lagoon islands, or were happy to take the longer vaporetto to and from Venice each day.

Looking at their website, it appears that they have an arrangement for a shared water taxi for a reasonable price, or a private one for €275. Each way? Note the possibility of having to take the Allilaguna boat under certain circumstances, at your own cost.

I’ve stayed in some obscure places, but this is one city where I would be stingy with my time & wouldn’t want to be beyond the center islands of Venice for lodging. It would be sad if you’re out on Murano and having to contemplate whether it’s worth the expense to go into Venice for the evening - the time of day that is so special! And waiting for transportation, the time to get into Venice, the time waiting for transportation to head back to Murano and be on a boat are all time that you could have been enjoying special moments in Venice.

(I’ve stayed in Venice during six trips & have also visited Murano & Burano.)
