Stay in Vernazza

My husband & I would like a room with a sea view. I have read in Rick's book that the church bells are noisy & loud. Are the bells rug during the night or only in the daytime? I'm interest in staying at the Nicolina Rooms but not if I won't be able to sleep at night. Please let me know if anyone has slept there. Are the bells only noisy there or atother locations also?

We stayed at Rick's recommendation, Hotel Barbara. Church bell rang but didn't bother us at night because they don't ring after 10 PM and we were so tired we had no trouble sleeping. Lots of stairs, as at most hotels. Don't take heavy bags!

I believe the church bells ring only during the daytime and early evening. I suggest that you try to book your room(s) as early as possible -- my preferred choices were already booked by early January for my dates in September this year. Nicolina rooms look very nice at their website (and rather pricey), but I haven't stayed there.

I agree with Bob, the view from the terrace at Elisabetta Carro's rooms is spectacular... take a look at her website. We stayed there for a few nights many years ago -- but her rooms are already booked up for our dates in September 2014!
