Stay in Trastavere to get to FCO in the morning?

Hi - sorry if you are tired of seeing my name. I'm leaving in exactly 2 weeks and there seems to be so many last minute questions. Here's the deal: we are staying near the Termini station our last night in Rome to get to FCO in the morning (10 am flight). We are going to have monthly transit passes and I would love to use them for the trip to FCO instead of spending extra on a shuttle or the Express train (not covered by the pass). There is a regional train that goes to the airport that (I assume) would be covered by the pass. However, it leaves from either Trastevere, Tirbutina or Ostiense, NOT Termini. Would it be worth my while to stay in either of those places the night before to catch that regional train? Or is it just as simple to catch a train from Termini to Trastevere and transfer there? Does this even make sense?? I'm expereince planning overload... HELP!

Hey, Monique. Tiburtina is four stops from Termini, albeit in the other direction from the airport. Are you certain of the stations for this train to the airport? This map shows the airport train stopping at Termini: http://www.rome.info/metro. Also, in my experience, it's very chancy as to whether or not local transit passes cover REGIONAL trains. I recommend emailing your hotel near Termini and asking them about the fastest, cheapest way to get to the airport.

It is my suggestion to skip the public transport unless you are taking the Leonardo Express directly to FCO. Otherwise, have your hotel arrange a taxi (40 Euro) to the airport so that you will be certain to arrive at least 3 hours before departure time. Make certain that you are dropped off at Terminal 5 for processing, then take the shuttle bus to the main terminal for departure. Keep it simple.
