Stay in Ortesei and Cortina?

Good Morning,
We are contemplating flying into Zurich from the US, taking a train to Ortesei ( staying at Hotel Grones) for possibly 4 days( renting a car in Bolzano) and then driving to Cortina before driving down to Tuscany.
Is it worth staying in both villages and where would you suggest staying in Cortina? And those who know Ortesei, would you stay at another hotel or recommend Hotel Grones? We are wanting to see the most beautiful parts of the Dolomites to do some hiking and sightseeing. Is there a route to drive that is recommended? Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you in advance

We would stay in Hotel Grones again! Wonderful experience, delicious dinners too.

I have not been to Cortina, but I adore Ortisei and Hotel Grones. The food and service are extraordinary.

Cortina is a let down after Ortisei. But if you want to drive over there, stop at the cable car Paso Falzarego. Learn about the Battaglia del Galleria during WW I.

Hi there - If you want to stay in another part of the Dolomites, I'd recommend Toblach or San Candido after Ortisei. Both towns are charming, offer more authentic cultural experience, and place you near some of the most stunning hikes in the Dolomites such as Tre Cime di Lavaredo, which should not be missed in my opinion: https://throneandvine.com/tre-cime-di-lavaredo-drei-zinnen-guide/ Also, nearby is Prato Piazza (Plätzwiese) and Lago di Dobbiaco which are breathtaking and easy to hike. https://www.prags.bz/en/plaetzwiese Have a wonderful trip!
