Stations of the Cross - Good Friday - Rome

Wondering if anyone has had the chance to see the Stations of the Cross? I know it will be very crowded, and am not interested in going to the whole thing, but wanted to find a place to camp out and see some of the event.

Any suggestions? Am I crazy to think I could find a vantage point that won't be a mob scene?

It starts at the Colloseum. Ends at the Vatican. The last time I was there at Easter (2012) it was freezing cold and raining horizontally, so I elected not to go.

Ask your hotel for a good place to watch it.
